Restless leg syndrome
I have Dx of PN. During my waking hours I feel more comfortable if I can stand and move around. Sitting is hard for me.
I went to my PA and mentioned leg cramps at night. He mentioned that I might have restless leg syndrome. I am a very still sleeper at night and hardly move around at all. My symptoms are worse during waking hours towards evening, but almost go away completely at night when sleeping. I am on 2700 mg gabapentin per day. |
I think the first thing to try is magnesium.
Either soak in the bathtub with about 4-6 oz of epsom salts, and warm water (not hot), or take a quality magnesium supplement or use the topical magnesium lotion. I really gobbed the lotion on my right knee last night out of desperation, I had so much pain in it (Low Pressure weather yesterday) last night... and it worked! |

When my knee acts up the pain is deep and vague...and I keep moving the leg to try and fix it....it is similar to RLS...I think.
It was very severe last night, and I did NOTHING to trigger it either! sigh. The magnesium lotion also works on my left foot scar which for some obscure reason throbs now for no reason. There was alot of nerve damage when that tumor was removed decades ago. Now it seems the nerves have grown back and not very well! |
