Family Dr.
I had to see my family Dr. for a refill since it had been well over a year. Decided to bring copies of my July hospital trip & the full explanation I had written & sent to my neuro after he failed to get a copy of the hospital "stop & go" event himself after three visits. I just had BW done & will be off for an echocardiogram, carotid duplex scan & CT scan all in one day. My family Dr. will then read them all & give my neuro a call personally. Now you don't find many Dr's like that anymore!
I can only imagine my neuro appt. :o) |
While it's sad, but true ... not that many Doctors keep in tune with the others. Mine do! My Primary, Cardiologist & Neurologist all have the same records, reports, et cetera - and so do I. We all have the same files, so there's no  confusion in the midst. If you ever get Doctors like that that works like a team, you've got a precious bunch, cherish them! :grouphug: |
I think it has become the patient's job to keep all our docs informed, supplied with the same info etc.

More is placed on patients to make sure that their drs get the info needed from other drs for treatment. Maybe not fair, but sure gives us more power, and saves the dr some time.
My daughter's PCP is like that too...she likes all copies of everything, and I usually provide it. By mail, or I drop it off. |

with the others, and unfortunately, I would state it's a "toss up". Why do I state this - it depends on the Hospital System they are in. If they're in the same hospital system, then it wouldn't be necessary at all, since pretty much everything is in the same computer system unless the computer is down, however, if they are "independent" and not associated and/or affiliated - then the patient has to inform the doctor(s) of the information/update. I hope I am making sense here ... If not --- slap me with 1,000 lashes with a wet noodle! |
