Power To The People!!!

It seems we can make a difference.....hmmmmmmmm

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the nation's leading breast-cancer charity had halted its partnership with Planned Parenthood.......and.....Yesterday reversed that order....YAYYYYYYY!!!!!:)

The JCP obnoxious screaming commercial is gone and a new sweet one..."I've got my love to keep me warm", took it's place.:)

And here are several other commercials they have. I like them a whole lot better than that screaming one.

Last night on MSNBC they were talking about the reversal that Susan G. Komen race for the cure did. They had the woman from NOW on there. They pointed out that we shouldn't feel so comfortable as they did reverse it for this year but -- they left it that next year Planned Parenthood and others would be "eligible" to apply for a grant. Makes a person wonder. Here it is:

There will be a commercial before they get into it. It is worth watching I think.

It was my understanding that SGK foundation stopped sending funds for mammograms because PPH doesnt provide them at their facilities, they provide a voucher for a patient to go OFFsite, and then get their tests done. They there fore are not in control of the test, the results, or the follow up of such care. They pay more than $750 thousand in mammogram tests to many different centers and paid less than 60K to PPH for such. It was a company wide policy that changed to be in more control of the direction of the funds that are dispersed, instead of sending women to facilities that are already being covered by SGC funds. it was not a political thing, it was a money and double dip thing.

That being said, I am not a fan of sGC even as a breast cancer survivor. they work really hard to make you feel guilty if you dont drench yourself in pink, and pink products. Why do I need a pink vacuum? or a pink blender? pink undies to a pink towel to dry my head? Pink sweaters for my cats? We are drowning in a world of pink! Lets not even mention the amount of cashiers that are quite pushy about asking you to donate to the fund, and you get a pink ribbon! I donate privately and dont want to give to sears or macy's or whomever that will get the credit for MY donation and its tax write off. Enough with the pink!

Another "power to the people" moment recently was congress voting to make it illegal for insider trading in congress. A guy wrote a book called "throw them all out".
It detailed how for year and years congress has been able to play with their stocks on information they knew (from government policy) was going to affect their personal stock holdings.
Now this is illegal for you and I and Martha Stewart went to jail for it.
But it has always been legal for government officials.
After the book was written and media got a hold of it, they have voted in congress to make this illegal for them as well.
Sad, it took this long for them to "realize" this was crap.
No wonder guys went into government middle class wage earners and came out millionaires.
power to the people
American Airlines employees are in a serious plight right now and I learned that some have posted things on facebook and were suspended from their jobs for making public statements against the company. In this day of keeping American jobs, American Airlines wants to farm out their maintenance to foreign companies. Whaaaaat? Employees have already taken cuts in their pay and now they may lose their health care and pensions as well.
Okay....off my soap box now.....too much caffeine this morning
