Chiropractor noticed half of son's face is droopy

I took Nathan to the chiro yesterday and all 3 of the doctors in the practice examined him. Each has a different area of specialty.

One is more studied in nuero issues and did some tests with his eyes and tracking. His left eye doesn't move as far as the right. AND his left side of smile is droopy compared to right.

I had noticed this but thought i was hallucinating, bc I am mom and I'm on hyperalert trying to document all symptoms. I compared him now to the school pic taken in September and there is definite drooping in left eyebrow, eye and mouth.

Any thoughts?

Do any of the chiros specialize in upper cervical adjusting?

Is anything else droopy or not level - like shoulders, hips, ribs?

yes, they've been adjusting C1 and C2 for the last 2 weeks or so.

His left shoulder droops too. That seems to be unrelated to his hip disorder that caused his right leg to be permanently shorter (Legg Calves Perthes deisease).

My left eye drooped after the injury. My left side felt weak and my leg would drag. It's improved greatly but the eye still droops. I also have a deficit in my left pherphial upper vision. I was hurt in the right frontal area. I never was told why. The mra was ordered to make sure my carotid artery was ok. So im at a loss. Please let me know what the doc says. im sorry your little guy has to go through this!

Definetly make an appt to see the doc. This is a new symptom as well as a deviation from normal and could be a few different things. Will probably need a repeat Head CT. GOod luck

This needs to be seen by a neurologist also.

I'm hoping that when i call the dr tomorrow with this and the fact that I just noticed his arms go numb if he looks even slightly upwards for even 2 mon then a neurologist will actually see him! None are interested in him here in Spokane until another 6 months go by!!!!

I'm 6 months into my PCS now and I tried a chiropractor, for the second time (first one was a Quack, long story) last Friday. She said my C2 was out of alignment and this could have something to do with my bad headaches. She re-adjusted it but stated that I will need to return once a week for a little while to ensure it stays adjusted because it will slip out of place for a few weeks. After a while it should stay in place without adjustment. So that's good that they are ensuring that his C1 and 2 are continuously adjusted and not slipping out of place. I admit that I am feeling a little better after the chiropractor but this may also be attributed to my increasing of my amitriptyline dose from 20mg to 30mg last week as well. I am hopeful that at the very least having my vertabrae adjusted to a healthy order will help speed my recovery if it doesn't directly have any effect on my headache symptoms. Definitely recommend a Neuro though so you can approach this from two angles.
