How long should I give theanine & benfotiamine?

I just read of Mrs.D's experience with the blood glucose lowering effects of both these supplements.

I am very interested in trying them to help lower my BG. Just wondering about a time frame for seeing any positive results. Should I give it a couple of months, weeks, etc?

I have the Doctor's Best stabilized Suntheanine (150 mg.) and LEF Benfotiamine (250 mg.) Are there any guidelines for how much to take per day?

I found the lowering of blood sugar fairly quick with the
theanine. I use 300mg at bedtime.

I don't think the benfotiamine works as quickly or at the lower dose I use. 150mg a day. You'll have to experiment with that.

But don't forget I also use R-lipoic too. 100mg in the morning.
I've just started the 100mg at 4pm too.

I am borderline with my levels. And I think I have a cortisol connection too. Each of us is different.

A member at PN (joano) sent me some information on berberine.
I am going to add this soon.

Now this statement in the above link, "as effective as metformin"...I've heard before in connection with d-chiro inositol, which did nothing for me. Also in the past guggulipids were supposed to be really good for cholesterol...did nothing for me either.

So I don't know about this hype about berberine. But I am going to try it with my next order to Amazon. (I will be using Thorne brand for safety--the others I don't know much about as yet).

thanks! Glad that theanine works fairly quickly. I'm going to double up & take 2 caps@ bedtime. I also take doctor's best r lipoic stabilized 100 mg. 1x p.d.

Here's hoping I get some positive results.

If I add a 2nd r- lipoic should it be on an empty stomach?

Thanx again for your info.

Yes, Lipoic, on empty stomach.

I see where Berberine is mentioned here and I first heard about it a few months ago from a member on another health group. She is taking it and getting off Metformin, she may be off the Met by now. She decided to do this after reading Dr. Jonathan Wright's info on this supplement. She says she wants to save her liver.

If my numbers should start to rise, I would work with the Berberine as I've done a lot of reading on it and many reviews from others.

How long did it take for the theanine to lower your blood sugar and about how much did it lower it ?

mrsD 05-20-2016 10:56 AM

The BS lowering was temporary.. I no longer use the theanine.

The BS lowering was temporary.. I no longer use the theanine.

It did help with the "dawn phenomenon" for a couple of weeks.
The morning glucose readings are the highest for me, and the rest of the day, I am pretty good.
