I was accepted for a doggie!

guiding eyes for the Blind in Patterson New York has accepted my application for a doggie! I am told that I have a sweet lab that will be my partner. (they only do labs there) they have a dog that will work as my MS as well as my Guide dog. They have several to choose from (they choose for me) and will wait for my evaluation to tell me which dog best fits my needs.

I will go for training (26 days) sometime in June or early July. they will be calling me soon with my spot date.

Im terrified and yet excited. its been years since we had a doggie in the house.

Congrats! :yahoo:

Why terrified? Labs are the sweetest, and get along fine with cats (and everybody else). They rarely (if ever) have any dominance issues; any/everybody else can be boss/leader - they just want to be loved & played with.

Congratulations! Wow! They are very careful about who gets a dog, especially a guide dog. It is so important to trust the dog and some people just can't do it.

You will enjoy the training and the bond you develop with you dog will be very close.

Congrats!

Congratulations! I am happy to see you will be training with your dog for that long of a time. Its extremely important to be patient and go through the training with the dog to learn and work as a team.
