Hello!
I am a new member here. I have Trigeminal Neuralgia (mixed 1 and 2) in my jaw. I got it after a tooth was removed. It's being taken care of by medication, but the medication is making me too drowsy and "drunk" to lead my life, so I have a lot of questions to ask and many posts to read.
I hope I learn a lot here. |
Hello EmptyNester and welcome to Neurotalk. It's good to have you with us although I'm sorry for the reason that brought you here to us.
Your story sounds a lot like my story although mine was all mixed up because I had both the dental extraction and another chronic illness working against me. I have multiple sclerosis and after investigation, it was decided that my TN (Trigeminal Neuralgia) was due to an exacerbation of that condition, but the dental exacerbation set it off. I was wondering how soon after your extraction did your nerve pain start, and whether or not you've consulted your dentist about the pain? I ask because TN pain and the pain from a dry tooth socket can be very similar. If you've not yet consulted your dentist then I'm hoping your pain is due to a dry socket because that pain will ease...... TN pain will not. :( I understand what you say about the medications making you drowsy. All I can say is that this drowsiness will pass. I assume you've been given one of the anti-epileptic drugs, or something similar so please persevere because they will help the pain much more than Morphine or any other opiate could. Those drugs don't work on nerve pain. |
Nice to meet you!!
