Mouse bridge or platform
Apparently my wrist hurts because I've been mousing wrong. Anybody use a bridge or platform so that the mouse is up over the keypad side of the keyboard?
I've also been totally using my wrist as opposed to my elbow. Think I might try wearing a wrist splint for a while unti I break the habit of mousing with my wrist. Well, unless it messes up my typing. |
I've never used one of those, but I do/did have RSI injuries.
So I know the importance of having a whole ergo desk area for use. Is the rest of your desk or computer use set up a sergonomic as possible? And good body posture/mechanics when at the puter? Looking down or tilting head constantly with shoulders hunched or forward is also a way to set up tension in the neck area that can affect the arm & wrist muscles. Been there done that...:( We have older posts about ergonomics/desk set ups. Or a websearch will bring up the newest info. |
I doubt if it's very ergonomic overall. I haven't had good posture for a long time...can't sit/stand in the same position for very long. I have an ergonomic keyboard, and I TRY to sit up straight, but all of a sudden I'll notice I'm scrunched over again.

some basic things to help fix the slumpy postures -
lay on foam roll or large towels rolled up tightly - pillow if needed for neck comfort - then just relax with arms at a comfortable position http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/pi...pictureid=5400 http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/pi...pictureid=5399 |
By 7 my computer is off and pains is less and sleep is better.

I use dragon naturally speaking, and just tell the microphone what I want. "open internet explorer" and off it goes. "go to address bar" and off it goes. "send an email to Sissy" and off it goes. "post that on facebook" and off it goes. I never realized how much time I spend hunting for the right place to start things before.
The home version is on sale for about $50. |
My new laptop has a webcam & microphone built in with Win 7.
I was surprised at how well the voice recognition worked for the navigating functions and dictations and not very many speakos/typos at all. It will come in handy if my RSI ever flares up bad , or if I just don't feel like typing... My desktop is still my main pc, it's just more ergo than the laptop for me. Plus a smallish house and everyone here would hear me talking to the laptop- if they are home... |
