It is a very good article! I am a firm believer in Kripula yoga. It is gentle, but allows me to get all the stretching that I am able to do. I was very lucky, when the NMSS offered classes for a short period about two months after I was diagnosed. I took the classes, and now do it at home by tape. One of the things that I always enjoy recommending, because I do think it helps. (If only I would find the time to always do it on a regular basis.)

From the way you worded it I take it Kripula is one of other types? I had read that Yoga was good for you so I went to a class. I had no previous experience or ideas about it. I'm in pretty good shape for having a m.s. dx, but that class just about did me in. I did not go back. But maybe it was not this kripula kind.

I have taken Yoga classes in the past that put me in bed with injuries. :confused: You have to be very careful. Now I only take ones that say gentle yoga or yoga for people with back injuries etc. I never go higher then Yoga level 1.

If you can find a old fashioned stretch class that works well too but they are out of fashion now.

The main thing we need is to stretch out all our muscles and the relaxation at the end is a plus. The last thing I need is to try to turn myself into a pretzel. :rolleyes:

But after years and years prior to MS of every type of class from Jazzersize to step classes I got more physical results from my level 1 yoga class then any of my prior classes. It really makes a difference.

I've taken several http://www.feldenkrais.com/ classes. They are fantastic for people with MS. The movements are a combination of gentle yoga and pilates. All of the movements are done on the floor and are very gentle. The goal is to retrain the body to move correctly. I've found the stretches have greatly improved my pain and balance.

Many physical therapists are certified in this method and do a hands on type of therapy which insurance will pay for. Betty

I love yoga, too. I hae been doing hatha yoga with an incredible teacher for 2 years. Unfortunately she teaches out of her house, and her studio is in her basement.

Steps have been very difficult for me lately and I haven't been to class in several months.

In the most recent NMSS magazine, there was a whole article about yoga. It recommended a couple of videos for home practice. I am gonna give them a try. I really miss it!

It is Kripula Hatha yoga that I do. This is gentle yoga, but does stretch and strengthen the muscles. There really are a lot of different types of yoga, and many of them I would not attempt, others I can't do even if I did attempt to, but this really is very good.
