Pain San Diego

Any thoughts or experiences with Dr Nancy Sajben and her use of oral k, low dose naltrexone and dextramethoraphan?

Yeah, she really knows her stuff. Her website is an open journal of what she has learned in the care and treatment of chronic pain, one to which I often return, and shamelessly cite as a reference. And she is completely on the mark with her approach to everything you mentioned. She's one of very few practicing pain specialists who appears to be constantly opening her mind to the ever broadening and deeply nuanced science required to deal with this "most interesting" of illnesses.

That and unlike some of the more prominent members of the profession (including a particular peacock at UCSD) she doesn't sup at the table of Big Pharma and/or the medical device industry. Based on everything I have heard and read, you would be hard pressed to find a better doctor.

She called me back yesterday and I was quite impressed and agree with you Mike.
I am going to start looking at how to raise the funds for 2 of us to travel to San Diego for three weeks. Her office will file the insurance for reimbursement to you but they are out of network. I am thinking in total, the whole visit should cost about 7k inc hotels.

bump....
I am really thinking of taking my daughter out to San Diego for 3 wks of treatment with Dr Sajben. Can anyone argue against it? It's a lot of money but her research is pretty compelling.

I don't think anyone would argue against it; especially if Mike condones it! He has his finger on the pulse of the Medline abstracts and such...Besides, San Diego is nice this time of year!

and I have to say, dr sajben is brilliant! I have never met a doctor so knowledgeable and who actually listens. We have started on the nasal k and build up to the other meds listed on her site www. Painsandiego .com

We have been here now for ten days and my daughter is reporting a seventy percent reduction in her pain. It is Dr Sajbens hope that there will be further reduction as the meds continue to deactivate or turn off the glia. You can find the meds she uses on her site under the long distance patients tab.
