Question about root canal
Hi Bryanna, I have a quick question, is it routine for a dentist to use bleach in a person's mouth when performing a root canal? DH had one Monday, and during the root canal he smelled bleach. There was a bleach stain on his bib and there was a little cup which he bent over to sniff and it smelled like bleach. Is that part of the procedure? Thanks for your time. :)

Hi Pamster.
Yes, bleach is frequently used as a "disinfectant" during the root canal procedure. It is not considered a "safe" product to use in the mouth.... but when used in a controlled manner, the exposure to the oral tissue is minimal if at all. It does leave a lingering residue inside of the tooth which means he may have a taste of bleach every now and again. Bryanna Quote:
