Lyrica side effects

So I have really been trying to find out if these side effects are related. I just started lyrica for partial seizures. I also have R/A. My doctor thot that it would be great for both probs. however I have been trying to figure out if a person can have side affects almost instantly? I am starting out with only 25mg lyrica a day with gradual increase Is it possible to have a rash and itchy skin, and nightmares the same night you just started taking this drug? My neurogist said its is not possible. I don't want to over react but guess I don't understand why he said its impossible to have side effects this quickly. Has anyone had itchy skin and nightmares so quick after starting lyrica?

Hi Sbrace,

Welcome to the forum! I was on Lyrica for only a short time for my seizures and the drug just increased my seizures terribly so I went off the drug. If you have a rash and your skin is itching you may be allergic to the drug I had the same problem when I was on tegretol, teriptal, and Lamictal. You should let your Dr. know about this and have a skin biopsy done to see if the Lyrica is causing a rash. If you have noticed an increase in your seizures you may be having the same problem as I did and that was the drug was not strong enough for my seizures. Ask you neuro to do a DNA test on you by doing that they can find out what AED (seizure med) will work the best for you with the least side effects. I wish you only the best of luck and May God Bless You!

Sue
