Laying Flat & bending down issues
Hi all,
I have had internet issues, so it has been a while! I am 7 weeks on from the second surgery and gosh I am not doing very well. Very symptomatic, also still needing strong pain meds to get through the day(I did try and stop them... :( ) I'm still fairly swollen under my collar bone. My main question was, I have noticed, when I bend down(bend at waist not a proper bend or tying up my shoelaces, or cleaning the floor etc etc) my head feels like it is swelling up, I get pressure in my head, it is much worse if I lay flat on the floor, which I just did and my head now still feels pressure. Does anyone else get this? Is all this related? This is all really starting to get me down :( I feel so lost in it all. I feel like I'm on house arrest at times. I have a toddler, and still cannot pick her up properly, even cuddling her hurts most of the time. I just have to do things and deal. Any advice, any anything would be great right now. Thanks :) |
7 weeks out of surgery , they haven't suggested any therapy yet?
Or no mention at all of therapy? There is therapy for pain relief , low level laser, ultra sound, massage TENS or other electrical stimulation. NO vigorous stretching & NO strengthening until pain is very very low. IMO Did they give you any gentle ROM movements to do? I would contact the surgeon and make sure he knows how things are going, maybe even make appt so he can check things.. might be best to make a list of the symptoms starting with the worst ones, it is so easy to get flustered when seeing the doctor and forget to mention something. I don't know what to say about the pressures and bending - that would be a good one for the doc to answer. But maybe some of the others that had surgery will be able to chime in on it. |

The side he did 7months ago now is causing me so many problems :( It is all so disheartening. Will have a long list for him when I see him in 11 days. I always go blank, so writing a list is a good idea. I feel so lost with all this. I saw my GP today and as suspected he really didn't have much of a clue... He thought maybe sinusitis, but I'm not going with that(he didn't really think so either, but think he felt a bit useless!) Thanks :) |
ROM = range of motion
IF one of the docs will rx an evaluation by an expert PT, I think that might be helpful. There could some other issues that can be addressed. But advanced /expert PT is really best, rookies or medocre PT will probably use a one size fits all approach. That doesn't work for most of us w/ TOS. Sometimes PT is needed for best outcomes, but poor PT can mess you up worse. |
If you find out anything, please let us know. I didn't have surgery, but I have these same symptoms. I have keloid scar tissue trapping my subclavian artery & vein, after having my broken collarbone pinned after a serious car accident. for over two years now, I have had what I call "the weird breathing thing" where certain positions, bending over, laying flat, laying back at just certain angles, make me short of breath or feels like I'm just not breathing. Bending over immediately makes it feel like there's so much pressure in my head it's going to explode. So can laying flat, which I mostly avoid because of "the weird breathing thing." For over two years now, no one has even attempted to explain it. So if you find out anything, please tell it here. If I get any info, I'll tell you.
