lately getting a lot of ear pain when i get a stabbing feeling in side of neck. is this just from the scm or could it be tmj. i don't notice much clicking in jaw but when the pain in neck and ear act up, i will also get dizziness. my last visit at dentist about three months ago, she said a small amount of popping in left jaw but was not concerned with it.

I have very, very similar symptoms. I don't have precise answers, but I do know that when I do my neck stretches, rib adjustment, jaw stretches and take my diazepam, the ear pain is greatly reduced or entirely absent.

My impression has become that I have chronic muscle tension and that this is the cause of the TMJD, ear problems and dizziness, not the other way around. Why the muscle tension persists is a mystery to me.

thanks, I was thinking the same. I have to ask doctor for the diazepam.

My theory: Ear pain is originating from a cranial nerve.

SCM's, scalenes and host of other COUNTLESS neck junk are pulling on the c-spine and joint facets and causing nerve compression in the cranial nerves. Inflammation can also occur in the joint facets from continual irritation which also leads to compressions.

Anyone else get the sensation of ants marching around in other locations of your face? I get it above my upper left lip on occasion and it has a referral pattern to the left ear. Oh, the joys! :)

The only thing that has cleared it up temporarily has been Toradol, but it comes right back after the 5 days. I just finished a Medrol Dosepak but the pain only got slightly better.
