Brain injuries revealed in high-def
Definitely worth a read (also check out the short video at the bottom of the story). This is something my doctor and his team have been working on developing, possibly via enhanced MRI imaging; looks as though the U Pitt team has been thinking along the same lines.
Quotes from the video: "In traumatic brain injury, one of the key problems is that in over 90% of the cases, no existing method can detect the problem." "With our new High Definition Fiber Tracking technology, we can actually formally quantify the parts of his brain that has [sic] sustained injury." http://news.discovery.com/tech/brain...=BrainLine.org |
Fascinating! I can definitely see the advantage in this.

This is the Third Thread started about this system The other two are at

As these technologies become more sophisticated, they will be useful (among other things) in providing "objective evidence" to employers, insurance companies, courts/tribunals, etc. that significant brain damage has actually occurred in mTBI cases.
