Knee Surgery

Well it has come to the point again, where my orthopedic surgeon says that the knee needs to be surgically fixed. This will be the second time he is going to tighten the ligaments in my left knee, I had the surgery about three years ago. It was a tough survey and took a long time to recuperate due to whatever else medically is going on. But up until recently the survey has been a miracle, and allowed me to walk again. Before the first survey I was in a wheelchair for a good deal of time, and now I am back in one again. :( I am just curious is this going to be a constant in my life? Is the surgery even worth it if it is going to happen again? I feel like I'm stuck in a very vicious circle. Is there a better route that can be taken? If anyone has any thoughts on the matter please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.
