Giving back to hospice

Mom died March 11th of last year. I was waiting on my sister to feel better so we could go take a meal to the hospice. So we did that today. The nurses recognized us as Mom's kids, even offered for us to go to her room. They try to landscape outside of each room and it was so beautiful. It was much harder on my sister but I saw hospice as a way of dealing with her pain and assisting her toward her freedom of this life. She sees hospice as a time when Mom was in terrible pain and died there. As a nurse I have always tended to clininalize things. is that a word? I remember how so many meals were prepared for us. Volunteers cook a full breakfast and lunch and M-W and F. and a lasanga meal one other time. And then there are people who did what we did today.

Plus I made my bb'que hamburgers and didn't get any!!!!!

What a sweet and thoughtful idea. I know it must have been difficult for both of you but at the same time very healing.:hug:

My brothers wanted to donate money. I told them that they needed to do something in their own cities.. One brother has a 14 year old son with a lot of discipline problems. Volunteering somewhere in honor of his Grandma that he loved very much would do a lot more than his parents sending me money to buy food.
