PA and antihistamines
I was diagnosed with PA about 6 weeks ago. Prior to that I was suffering from the exhaustion/fatigue and lack of energy.
I was so exhausted, I had figured that I was suffering from a sleep disorder and went to the DR to find out which led to the diagnosis. Since I was thinking my sleep was off, there were several nights I would dose myself with Benedryl to help me sleep. It actually did help, I would wake up with energy, although not even close to the boost that the B-12 supplements provide. So I was wondering if anyone might know why the Benedryl seemed to help, even though it was the anemia causing the sleep/energy issues? Just wondering. |
Welcome to NeuroTalk:
Methylcobalamin is the cofactor in converting serotonin to melatonin in the brain. Melatonin is the sleep hormone. If you are very low in B12 you will have trouble sleeping. Over time as you get better levels of B12, you may not need the Benadryl. But many people do use it to help with allergies and sleep induction. |
