Does Calmare/pain scrambler therapy work like Tcds?

I have had Tcds treatment before up in NY one session for 5 days, it helped but then the effect wore off a few days after. Is Calmare treatment anything like Tcds or work in a similar way? Is it similar concepts just works the opposite, instead of sending messages from the brain to the pain areas does calmare work the opposite by sending messages from the pain areas to the brain? Or is calmare more similar to TENS treatment?
