chronic pain
 

Hi, and thanks for allowing me to join this forum. I'm strugglin with some severe, chronic and agonizing back pain at this time. I have had five back surgeries and yes they have all failed. I have an intrathecal pain pump implanted that drips a small amount of morphine on my spine. Due to loss of insurance and cost I had to have my pump turned down very, very low. I get absolutely no relief from it now, NONE. I do have oral meds, but everything has gotten so bad even those don't help.

I can't walk more than 20 feet without agonizing pain then I'm locked up. I can't sleep in my own bed any longer and as far as housework and working outside my home, just a pipe dream. I have always been very self sufficient and always worked, all my life but no longer. My poor husband has to do everything. He is so good to me he doesn't want me to get hurt, but I can sneeze and get hurt.

I feel at this time my pain specialist has lost interest in my case, as they only fill a couple of pumps monthly and you can tell by their attitudes those are a pain for them.

Anyway I"m lost, I'm scared and I hurt all the time. I pray, I take my meds, I have a wonderful family, but I feel very lost at this time. Any ideas???

This is just the place for you! I'm so glad you found us.
The majority of people in our lives don't fully comprehend what it is like to be in chronic pain. I'm glad to hear you've got such a wonderful husband who loves you so. So do I. This forum has been a lifesaver to me because I see that I'm not alone in my pain and I don't want to talk about my pain all the time to my husband.
There is plenty of support and care here. I'm so very sorry that you are faced with all this pain. It almost seems like a past life ago when I was active and working hard. I know you feel the same.

Please make yourself at home here. Feel free to post anywhere you feel inclined. Darlene gave you the link to the SCS/Pain Pump forum. It'd be great to see you over there! I have a SCS, so I know what it's like to be bionic :p I only wish you were able to get adequate meds for better pain relief.

Hi Jude -- I was face with a similar situation a few years ago. I had the SCS implanted, and it didn't work. I couldn't have the pump cause I wasn't big enough.

Why not apply for Social Security Disability? From the sounds of it, you'd probably get approved!!! From what I've been told, you can get an attorney on the first try -- hire one on contingency so you don''t have to pay him. He'll get his fee from your back wages, which will be NO MORE than 25%. (his fee, that is) Give it a try --- if you're denied, then APPEAL it. It won't cost you any more. Most often you do get approved on appeal. I had to appeal twice, and got approved.

hi all . i have had 2 op on my right foot sum 17 years ago and been take tramal all that time.had done my neck ten year ago c3,4 c6 and c7 been taking oxycontin for about 6 years only when the pain was bad.now i am takeing 20 mg of oxycontin 2 times a day and when the pain is bad will take a 20mg of oxynorm.my dr does not want me to take it and told me he will take my driving licence off me.not happy.if i keep take the oxycontin.i all so have dvt,3 stents put in the illack,blood clots about 10 in my right leg which went into the lungs.i also have wpw heart .i was told by the dr that i should be dead,keeps telling me how luck i am .i also take warfarin,crestor,micardis and still knoxs..my dr today told me to stop taking oxycontin and told me to take jurnista 16mg.can sum one tell me which is best 4 pain. oxycontin20mg or jurnista16mg.p.s i am only49 years old and i been told that i have 10 years to live.i will have my right leg cut off blood is no getting there just starting to get a lot of pain again that why the stent were put in 20 week ago to try to save the leg , .

Not sure why your doctor would take away your driver liscense because of Oxycontin use; but not for jurinista which is for moderate to severe chronic pain as well, and is a type of morphine and an opiad narcotic.

I am on Oxycontin, 60mg's every 6 hrs. for a total of 240 a day. I do have a handicap placard to hang on the mirror. My doctor did say, I hope you are not driving. I told him my husband did the driving and this to enable us to park closer to wherever we are going. He did sign for the placard. This is true, I have not driven in about 5 years because of the spine PN pain and too painful to sit in driver's seat. But, he never did threaten to take away my license either.

Since both meds are considered an opiad narcotic, I don't understand why he is pushing one over the other and threatening your driver's liscense.
