vitamins or supplements?
Does anyone know of any vitamins or supplements that help people with peripheral neuropathy?

Yes, and Welcome to NeuroTalk:
This is a big open ended question. Our subforum has lots of useful information including a supplement thread. I haven't put EVERYTHING on it yet, but I did do the most common useful things so far: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread121683.html Vitamin deficiencies can be tested. B12, and D are the most common, but B6 and B1 may be low. Minerals like magnesium and zinc, and essential fatty acids fall into the deficiency category also. Many people do not eat foods containing magnesium or EFAs and so the nervous system cannot maintain or repair itself. Supplements are enhancers of metabolism in case the mitochondria are damaged (by drugs/toxins) and testing for those is not available commonly. R-lipoic acid acetyl carnitine CoQ-10 are examples of these. |
Supplements have been amazing for me. I take a long list for my CFS and POTS. Benforiamine and Alpha Lipoic Acid have been great, but others were important also. I take all on the list and more.
