Had surgery done two and 1/2 weeks ago.

Wanted to report my progress for those considering doing it.

I developed venous TOS with severe subclavian vein stenosis (narrowing);

This is from years of racquest sports.

Decided to have the first rib resected with scalene muscle surgery, angioplasty etc.

Was put on a PCA night of the surgery. Pain was ok and tolerable. Referred scapular pain was the worst. I thought it was a muscle pull. Did not realize it was from the surgery !

I left the hospital the next morning, since I barely hit my pain pump.

Week later I am back at work and last used a percocet 4 days ago. Only symptom I am having is skin burninig and neuropathy on the chest wall. Even shirt will start to hurt it at times as it touches my skin.

So, I pray this will get better. Does it????

Otherwise, grace of God, I think im doing well. Arm swelling improved but still there. Will start Physical therapy soon.

Overall, if the neuropathy gets better this was "not too bad"

Hope this helps some body.

Welcome to the board. Did you have a clot at all or just compression? Would you mind sharing where you had your procedure done?

I had severe sensitivity on the inside of my arm for months following surgery. Time and PT helped it go away. Good luck with your recovery!

Wanted to report that the neuropathy is improving. Pain nearly all gone. Not bad at all. Probably worth it. But my only concern is that why is my arm still swollen. I had vascular TOS. I am three weeks out. Doctor says need PT and still scar tissue from surgery needs to resolve. ANyone with venous TOS know the general timeline?
