Going Crazy
 

Hi

Is it possible to be itchy so bad in my hand , that has the rsd? I also have pins and needles and today little electric shocks in my finger tips. I again have stage 1 .But maybe a little crazy but feel itchy in other hand and pain by elbow, just like I have in arm now.

YES...this is very common with RSD. I can't say for sure that your particular situation is or is not RSD related but the itching can be a form of inflammation caused by the RSD. I get this every once in a while (thank goodness it is not all the time because if it was I would seriously go mad). But it is caused by the RSD in my case and it comes and goes like any other symptom. I would definitely have the docs check it out because if there is some other cause then you may be able to get some relief. One of the problems with RSD is that it can cause a lot of different things but those things could also be caused by other stuff so you generally have to rule out the other things before you can confidently say it is caused by the RSD.

I find that putting lotion on my skin is usually the best relief I can get from the itching. It doesn't take it away but it does take the edge off so I don't feel quite so insane.

So glad to see this post (but certainly not glad for your itching!) I have RSD in my left foot, but since the onset I've had insane level itching in a tattoo near my right ankle. The entire tattoo actually swells and you can almost feel the outline like brail and it itches SO bad that I've left sores on my skin! I thought it was strange that it started at/or about at the same time as the RSD, so maybe it is related after all? - and Im not the only one having these itching areas! I do lotion and I've even tried benadryl cream.
Aquafor(spelling?) has worked best for me.

Today went to doctor and my hand was swollen so bad and my fingers were blue. The doctor said this is from the rsd. I have pain and burning now...like someone put my hand over a stove. The electric shocks in fingers and the itcy ..comes and goes. Not so bad since that day...more burning and swollen and pain in fingers.

I keep a bread knife to scratch. Sometimes I get an attack in the middle of the night but I always seem to get back to sleep.

i have crps in right hand n arm they are itchy at times, but i break with sores too cant scratch, my left arm hurtd slot too i wonder if thats from using it more? im right handed so learning to use left more, more right arm doesnt like to work anymore, swelling burning pinching feelings hurt too much

I found that heat takes away the itch. I used to get those itchy rashes in my pre-ketamine days. Try aiming a hair dryer at the itching spots until they sting. The heat draws out the itch for a while. Thie trick works for poison ivy too.
