Connection between Lyms disease and CRPS
My grandson, Jake, fell back playing football and hurt his tail bone in October, 2011.The pain kept getting worse even though he discontinued sports. He was told after an exray that he had a brused tail bone. As the pain continued to get worse and he had trouble walking an mri showed 11 fractures on his spine. He was fitted for a body cast and wore it for a month and the pain contined to get worse. After several more mri's and going to a different medical center he was diagonosed with CRPS. He has missed 2 months of school and is walking like a 90 year old. Jake is under the care of a pediatric CRPS research specialist from MGH in Boston. His doctor has never seen a case where it affects the spine and said that it is rare that children get CRPS. Jake can't sleep at night from the pain and muscle spasms and the PT he is receiving along with mild pain killers have not given him much relief. He did have complicated LYMS disease a few years ago and I was wondering if there could be a connection to the problems he is having now.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have heard of a similar case. |
