has this happened to you???

I have had back pain for about 8 to 9 months then one day from waist to toes went numb and I felt like I was being attacked my ants they didnt itch but felt like little shocking feeling throughout my body my mri came back clear of ms and so the doctor said he thinks it is Neuropathy. I went to a neurologist and he said he thinks it is a neuropathy that can be cured by IV. I am waiting on a nerve test which will be next week hopefully but I have read alot of things on line and it says it starts out slow. but mine was fast? Has anyone ever experinced this??:confused: Just want some answers!

There are certainly --

--acute onset neuropathies (mine was). The most well-known acute onset neuropathy is Guillain Barre syndrome, but others can be caused by toxic exposures, autoimmune reactions, infections, and some metabolic situations (there are acute onset diabetic neuropathies).

Take a look at:

On the other hand, if you have a history of back pain, and your symptoms are waist to toes, are they examining your lower spine for compression issues? Do you have a recent MRI of the lumbosacral area? (Typically the MRI's for MS only look at brain and cervical spine.)

It would be unusual for IVIg to be suggested unless there was considerable evidence of autoimmune attack, such as in Guillain Barre--IVIg is an immune modulating treatment.
