Finally facing neuropathy
Hi All
I'm finally facing PN because I have to. Like an American Idiot I ignored a initial diagnosis of PN a few years back, and the fact that I was also pre-diabetic. The PN progressed very slowly and I thought I had a bunch of time to "deal with this". Well I don't. In the past 6 months its gone from tingling and some foot numbness to burning pains in my feet or if I'm lucky just cold feet. Toes and soles of feet are numb. Also my fingers are starting to tingle a bit. In the past 2 weeks I've faced my diabetes and am on a strict diet (still much to learn there). Saw my Dr yesterday and they added a new med to my metaformin and I've just measured my first post meal blood sugars at 93. Progress but i have a long way to go. Not sure if I'll be much help here for a while as my head is swimming in diabetes diets and such. Also still pretty much in shock and of course depressed. But I do see the faintest glimmer .... thanks for listening. |

Welcome to NeuroTalk:
Be advised that metformin can reduce B12 absorption, and this alone can cause MORE PN. Please visit our PN forum here: lots to read and learn about: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html |
