Keyboards and such
So the doctor told me today that since I have a desk job and spend most of my day typing that I really need to get myself a good ergonomic keyboard. I've looked online some and there lots to choose from. Has anyone found one they really like? I also need to look into mouse alternative...ugg

Would you be able to use voice recognition software for some of the computer work?
Taking breaks to do reverse postures is always good too. Ergonomics is more than just a keyboard and mouse change. It's the whole desk, chair, monitor set up as well. There are ergo links in this post near the bottom, but those are from 2006 or so , there may be better ergo info sites online now also. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post388-1.html Even You tube videos I'm sure..:) |
75% of my job is desk work, 25% travel. I haven't had surgery yet but my work setup is quite comfortable compared to what is used to be. I have a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard. When properly positioned (so my elbows stay at my side), typing doesn't exacerbate my symptoms anymore. I also use a standard high-precision wireless mouse, but on my leg instead of the desk. I tried a trackball but just couldn't get used to it. I also have an AeroMotion Ergonomic Chair that is the best office chair I've used. http://www.swingseat.com/

Wow, looks like you need a seat belt in case you rock out of it!!:D:D

Get a shoulder rest and learn to move only the hand when typing.
