Cervical Traction

Hello everyone; Just wondering if anyone has had cervical traction done before? PT is going to try this with me this week. Does anyone know if this is dangerous? If it helps I am all for it! I guess if it hurts I will just say stop!!
Thanks in advance for any info.

I had it and it scared me but did no damadge. Didn't do any good either.
Had a wreck about a month ago and it seems to have messed me up some more. I hope it didn't shift my plate and screws?? Froggie:)

Hi Hairdresser here! Just wanted to say had cervical traction yesterday. My PT is very gentle. I was lying down on my back as she gently did some manipulation of my neck. I did not notice a big difference but on my way home I felt a little lightheaded. Today I am having a little less pain, I am noticing less pain in my left scapula area, a little less burning and stabbing. She said it will become a little more aggressive. It really does give me some hope!!! Just thought I'd leave a note incase someone could be helped by this procedure.

I just had some c traction/compression/positions used as an evaluation to check my sx to see if it was TOS or c spine pain.

Hope it continues to help you.

Hi Jo; Nice to hear from you again. It seems very hard for me to get a proper diagnosis. At this time I am on a Physiatrist's caseload. My surgeon that did my bilateral carpal tunnel releases, suggested a scalene compression of the plexus, and mild cervical compression @ c5@c6. Worker's comp. pain Doctor said it was all repetitive strain injury all myofascial pain. Feels like starting all over again!! It 3 years in treatment on @ off. I have been doing gentle range of motion exercises for my arms, shoulder's,wrists and of course for my cervical spine. I start out with heat for my shoulder, neck, and after have some ultra sound on my neck, shoulder's, scapula area. Now some c spine traction and I finish with ice. I am doing my stretches and exercises 3 times a day. So far everything is ok, little increase in pain but really surprisingly ok!!!
Take care, keep in touch Jo!!
