paresthesia

Sorry for the somewhat dumb question...within a medical definition is neuropathy pain considered a paresthesia? Is it a continium or a separate phenomena?

Paresthesias are sensations that do not have external visible reasons for being there.

They can be temporary...symptoms of something else. Electrolyte derangements often cause them or other metabolic problems. When they are constant, that is more serious.
Everyone gets these at one time or another.

Here is more detail:

It is just a fancy medical word.
