Brain Test.

As I've mentioned in a previous post, I'm going for a 5-day study on my brain activity to monitor which part of my brain the seizure activity is coming from. The doctor (who will also perform my brain surgery) who showed the left side of my brain near the hippocampus is and had been withering, it will be removed and he also wants to also take out my Vagus Nerve Stimulator (VNS) before the study begins. This is a device that has saved my life more times than I can count, it constantly emits an electrical current to the vagus nerve in your neck, I'm not sure how it works to stop seizures, but it does. I will also be taken off all of my anti-convulsant/seizure medications... So needless to say, I'm a little scare about the whole situation and having brain surgery (who wouldn't be?)

Good Luck!!

I myself did go through brain surgery to remove a scar there. Which I have had a great number of years, actually ever since I was 10, I do have epilepsy. Since the surgery I have not had a seizure. My neuro is keeping me on my medicine as of now. I had this surgery in December 2009, and feel so great not to go through having a seizure. I have got my drivers license, which makes me feel great not having to rely on a great number of family and friends at all times. I do have a dear husband who took and is still taken me places.

I do have a VNS, it help me out some by cutting down my seizures. Hope I have help you out some.

Darlene
