Anyone try Serc for dizzy?
My doc offered it to me to try. I guess I have nothing to loose. Even just to cover up the dizzy symptom would be fine. Just wondering what your experiences with this are?
 |
Serc is not FDA approved in the US. It has never been shown to have a worthwhile benefit.
Have you had a vestibular evaluation yet? Has anybody tried the Epley Maneuver or similar therapy for your dizziness? You can see a do it yourself video of the Epley Maneuver on YouTube. It is not a risky treatment. |
I looked into it a couple of years ago or more for my vertigo. I know someone here in Au who takes it for the dizziness from their Meniere's disease. She used to actually drop to the floor, doesn't anymore. She's extremely happy with it. A lot of what I read didn't make it sound particularly helpful, but when I talk to her it makes me think I should try it.

The US FDA did not approve it because it has such a poor benefit for those with Meniere's Disease. The clinical trials were fraught with errors and inconsistencies. It was submitted to the FDA back in the 70's and again in the 90's.

Thanks, Mark. I thought I pointed that out by posting the link. It's all in that. The good and the bad and the not so ugly. lol It appears to be quite benign.
My friend found great help from it. What can I say? She suggested I try it. I declined at the time, but have often wondered if it's helped anyone else. I would love to have it work! :) p.s. I don't live in the U.S. of A. I live in Australia. It's still available in UK, Canada, AU (not sure where else)... WHY if it's totally useless? |
Yes, vestibular evaluation and Epley Maneuver have been done. Therapist says Serc is just for the most acute cases of vertigo. Thanks for your replies

Have you tried diphenhydramine (anti-histamine) by any chance? I suffered for years from dizziness and nausea, then found a simple answer right in my own medicine cabinet. The normal adult dose is usually enough, though sometimes I have to go about 50% over for extreme sessions. Discuss this with your physician before trying, especially if going off-label and above-dosage, but it's been good for me. I always say, anything that helps is helpful.
