Weekend News? Saturday, April 28, 2012

Hi,

How are you? We have rain at the moment.
I am doing lots of work this weekend.
Maybe in a few days I will feel like I can relax.

How is your weekend?

Hi Mari, and everyone

Dear Mari

So far so good!
;) :D:D:D ;)
We've been having odd showers and lots of wind here, with some sun in between.

I wish you a productive weekend and that the energy you have right now stays positive.:hug::hug:

Everyone

I wish you all a good weekend... whether you want to relax, veg, be productive, be creative or sleep hehe... I hope you get to do what you want to do. Pop in and let us know.

My saturday: I cleaned in the morning, dealt with the plumber, vegged and watched some tv with mom in the afternoon.

We had hamburger and green salad for dinner last night yummmm. (We eat the burger from our plate - no bun. Mom did something interesting - she added finely chopped zucchini to it for moisture. It worked and it did not alter the taste at all!

Donna - that might be a way for you to eat zucchini!

Saturday (last) night I had a disappointment. They run 3 episodes of The Mentalist which I usually watch. Last night however, after the first show, the sleepiness overtook me totally. I was semi-conscious through part of the second show, fell asleep for the second half. I awoke again but was incoherent and slept through the third. :( I tried to will myself awake and ended up wake-dreaming, sleeping sitting up straight and other weird things i didn't think were possible. LOL, but I am sad because those episodes may never be re-run.

Just a tv show anyway, right? Ah well. At least no migraine or I could not have watched even one. :o

Today I've not done much yet other than swiffing the living room. I'm getting very sleepy despite my 2nd coffee. :o

Hi,

The sprinklers in the complex went off at 4:00 am. I do not know why we need the grass watered when we are under year round water restrictions.
The sound of water makes me nervous. I have not figured out what it is about water / rain that bugs me.

Let's turn off the sprinklers and plant cacti.

ETA:
Now it is raining. Maybe I should sleep and trust the roof and walls to hold.

Dear Waves,

Hubby does that sometimes with ground onions. I have to ask him if he does anything like zucchini idea.

Simon Baker!! I have been a fan of his since the Guardian.

Here he is on Jimmy Kimmel in his Australian accent.

My weekend has so far consisted of dog sitting...well kinda...just have to let my brothers 3 little ankle biters out for a little while and then back in to eat. But they wouldn't eat so I put some food in their kennel. Their kennel is so small that I can't put their dishes in there. This is the first time they've been left alone...at least with me.

Other than that I'm just sitting here... wishing I could call my niece but knowing that I can never do that again... then I get the feeling of being punched in the gut as I choke back tears.

Oh well...
Abbie

I used to use fresh, finely chopped onions but i don't mind if the onions don't cook fully, which is not the case for everyone. :)

More often than not, I used to cook sort of a cousin to what we usually call hamburger. You could not cook it on a grill. I imagine it has a name but I don't know it. It's... well a richer form of hamburger that includes egg and other flavorings. I cooked the patties in a pan with a laurel leaf under each. I first seared both sides, then lowered the heat and covered. I added a drop of cooking wine or extra dry martini near the end. Took 20-30 mins depending on patty size. In this case, the onions would get cooked. I made a stuffed version too, with (precooked) spinach and carrot slices inside the patties.

OH... i also need to make an amendment re: the zucchini ... mom said she GRATED them ... makes sense as the tidbits in there were very fine indeed. This shortens their cooking time.
