OT: Sell your old jewelry and coins.

I dug out of my jewelry box rings from old boy friends etc and silver quarters and an old tarnish bangle bracelet. Took it to the gold market at the mall and sold it for $100.
woo hoo! Called jeff and told him I was taking him to dinner!

I could use the money and I would do that but I've got rings that will go to my nieces and chains that will go to my nephews....when or in time.

I have a ring that was to go to my recently deceased niece..it's silver with her birthstone--aquamarine. I paid a forture for it and was going to give it to her on her 25th birthday...but since that can't happen, I've decided that I'm going to dig it out of it's safety box and wear it in her honor/memory.

My other jewelry will just have to wait...the girls can fight over it maybe for their girls somewhere down the line.

Jewelry is fun.

I gave away my one one or two gold rings when I was manic a while back. I have not bought jewelry since then.
The nicest thing I have is a sliver ring with a citrine stone I bought in Fort Meyers last year.

Well done, bizi!

I reckon we all need to do a little feng shui from time to time. :) I try to do it by sorting out things and not collecting what I feel is clutter.

I use/wear a lot of crystals these days and have done for years now. I've gone back to my roots really.

Many, many years ago I wore gold and diamonds and pearls. My wedding ring had a sideways cut in it to fit the pear shaped diamond of my engagement ring. When my ex and I were moving from our first house (this is over 21 years ago mind you), I lost the diamond from my engagement ring while I was packing. I was so terribly distressed at the time. BUT.. It was never found. My ex got the insurance and spent it on something else. :o Some years later after we had split up, I threw my cut out wedding ring off the side of a cliff. Don't get a wedding ring with a chunk out of the middle. It's not a good look. :(

Lara,

Literally tossing a ring is probably quite liberating. You freed yourself. :)

It was great in the moment. What's that word? Cathartic?

Let's just say I tried to free myself by that gesture but that wasn't rational.

In the moment and on some level I freed myself from some things, yes. We have two amazing children (grown up now) so one can never really "disconnect" from a relationship like that I don't think. <sigh>

cathartic is a good word!
hugs to you lara!
I need to clean out some clutter...some day...

old jewelery for fancy food? ... No way, not me!

I have very little jewelery. Each of the few pieces of I do have is meaningful - given to me by this relation or that person, some now deceased. I take them out and look at them sometimes, let each item stir memories of who gave it to me, our bond, that period of time, our times together - often happy ones.

Selling any of that is not for me... much less for one night of fancy eating.
:o :( :Noooo: :( :o
