Recumbent Trike

Hi:
I have been an avid cyclist for many years and since I was diagnoised with Parkinson's Disease 4 years ago, cycling has become a vital part of my exercise therapy to delay the effects of the disease. However, I no longer have good enough balance to ride a regular bicycle and so I need to get a recumbent tricycle, but they are very expensive. I have the following questions.

Does anyone have any experience with getting their medical insurance to pay for this type of equipment?

Does anyone have a used recumbent trike for sale (tadpole style)?

Are there any foundations which pay for this type of equipoment?

Has anyone built their own recumbent trike?

Thanks for any information.

Have you checked on craigslist, ebay or other classified ad websites?

I don't know about if any ins would pay or not- it's worth a try if dr will sign a rx for it.
