Back Injury!

Hi my name is Johnny I'm new to the the forum. I recently injured my back at work lifting a door. I almost fell with the door on top of me. My co-work broke my fall. I been off work for over a month. I had an MRI I was diagnosed with to herniated disc one in L-5 and the other in S-1. The doctor want to take conservative measure by sending me to physical therapy. He said surgery is not needed at this time. In the mean time I have lower back pain. it radiates down my leg. The doctor sent me back to work for half a day and the other half at home. The problem I'm having is I wasn't ready to go back to work and he's telling me there's nothing he can do about it. In the mean time workmens comp hasn't even approved my claim. They said they have to review the doctors documentation and that they would let me know May 21st. I'm just worred that their not going to approve my claim. What do I need to do? I'm dealing with federal workmens comp does anyone have any advice for me??

Hello,
Have you found our Layoffs, Unemployment and Worker's Compensation forum?
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum30.html

Be sure to check the sticky threads at the top of the list, there are many helpful posts & links there.

Sometimes it is best to get a good work comp atty to help with case/claims.

I would recommend seeking an attorney that can get you the treatment you deserve and one that puts your health as the number one priority. You are also by law entitled a second opinion if you are not happy with the treatment you are getting currently. It may be a bit of a fight to go to where you want but in the end it’s about you and getting better. Hope this helps a little.

Hi,

It is hard to get good medical care with back pain and a workers comp injury. It does make for double trouble.

Comp is tough. It is grouling, most times, for the injured worker. It is due process, but isn't time-friendly to your needs.

You do have a lot of homework here. Fed comp, I'm sure, is a little tougher.

Just know if you're hurt, and you can't work because of it, some day, down the road, you should be compensated for it. But until that day comes, it's no fun for you, dealing with everything.

So sorry you're having these problems. This is a great place to vent, find answers to comp issues, and most importantly, you may find help with your pain.

Take care...
