Went to the doctors last night I had a headache and can't sleep at nights due to my post concussion sydrome so he have me 30 elavil amitriptlyline 25 mg said take one before bed takes awy headache and helps u sleep he said its also a ant depressant.

Well I taken it last night around 9 knocked me out 30 min later woke up at 830 am feeling really tired still and Wierd . I also had very vivid dreams last night and now I feel Wierd not foggy but not feeling myself afte taking that med . I don't like this feeling of being on a anti depressint to help me sleep cause of the Wierd feeling I feel after.

He started you on a larger dose than many. 10 mgs is a good starting point. What dose did you get? 30 or 25 or did you take 30 of Elavil and 25 of amitriptyline? Elavil is the brand name for amitriptyline. Or did he give you 30 pieces of Elavil/amitriptyline to take at 25 mgs per night?

You could try taking 1/2 of a 25 mg pill tonight. After a few nights at 1/2 pill, you can up to 25 mgs.

It may take a few nights of sleep to get to a better condition.

He far me 25 mg to take nightly I feel awful all dat I feel like a zombie zoned out don't want to get up I can't concentrate I read about all the side effects I think I'll stop I can deal with the headaches with tynonal better then being a zombie all day an all the side effects .

Im used to the headaches but not used to the zombie like symtomps even though it gives me good sleep. Next month I'm going to rehab for my condition they have a gym specialist massages and acupuncture etc I have insurance I just applied just waiting for the ok. I want to go back to school at age 29 this January 2013 ad choose a different career I don't know what yet.

I can't go back to construction I did for 5 years or be security I can get hit in the head again, so I have a lot I time to think of what I want I applied for goverment disability to live on till then and my partner is very supportive so it's just a waiting game and see of my symtomps subside an get better. I got started on amitriptyline at 25 mgs also. For the first couple of weeks I could hardly wake up. I slept all night, got up and ate a meal, then fell asleep on the sofa for the day. The fatigue did get better over time as I got more used to it, and it did help prevent the headaches.

Taking this was what allowed me to take my first steps back to "normal life."

I would give it a couple of weeks and then see how you feel. In my experience, the side effects get better after the first few days.

I have anxiety problems and possible pstd with my concuasion syndrome so this medication will not work well with me at all I threw it away after my doctor said don't take anymore
