Knuckle ring finger bright red

I noticed this today. I don't recall burning finger or bumping it. I don't have much pain in finger. I have PN and am on gabapentin and
Tramadol. It is just that it has such a bright red color. Any ideas?

Could you have a mosquito bite on it?

Once I had a bite on a knuckle and it swelled up and turned red.

Try some ice on it, see what happens.

I've had various finger "attacks" which typically for me come from
carrying groceries in those plastic sacks, when they are too heavy.

Did you get a Strep test yet? Strep infections can show up elsewhere in the body, as reactive arthritis or skin rashes.
Scarlet fever is one name for this.

So if the finger continues, you should see a doctor.

Thank you for reply. Haven't had strep test. I still have little tingle in my throat. I feel I am over vigilant about health. I don't think it is mosquito bite as almost whole finger is red from base almost to tip. However, it is red just on palms down side.
