Layed off

I've been let go but i haven't signed paperwork yet. They are gonna pay me and give benefits until end of Aug. But paperwork say I terminated. Is that gonna cause an issue with unemployment? I'll file in Sept.

Was the lay off/termination due to mainly lack of work issues or mainly health issues?
I think that is what it may come down to..but I'm not sure.

Might help to look on your state website's employment/unemployment section.

Thanks will look. I think I am going back to school. I am only 9 hours short of Master's in teaching. But I'm worried about ms symptoms when student teaching. They claim they are consolidating offices. But I haven't heard of anyone else being let go. I have called in sick 1x since dx. I went above and beyond my duties. I'm an economic casuality.

before signing anything. I would clarify that you are being layed off and not terminated. Then I would change the paperwork to reflect this. Yes it could effect you getting unemployment as well as future positions.

You can be terminated and still qualify for unemployment. It is being terminated for cause (fired) that can be damaging to a unemployment claim.

Unemployment specialist

Unemployment Insurance is for people who are out of work (unemployed) due to no fault of their own. In other words, it is not their fault, they didnt want to sever from their job. It was the employer's decision. So if you signed a paper that says you self terminated, tell the unemployment office that you had no choice. Quit or be fired.
Is there anything you could have done to save your job? such as requesting a leave of absence, working part time, etc. What does "I terminated" mean? If you had no option other than to terminate, then you didnt quit and you were terminated by employer, so it's probably not your fault.
You have to be released to return to work in order to qualify for unemployment benefits.
