Bedding?

Has anyone tried that allergy ease bedding? I used it because frankly i want to buy a new mattress, yet can't quite yet. So i hafta settle for using this thing temporarily.

Make sure that you try to find a new mattress that doesn't have fire retardants in it. I could make everything that much worse!

Try an allergen mattress cover, then cotton or wool blankets/sheets. Also I have had good results from Bamboo fiber-filled pillows and Eucalyptus fiber sheets.

Stay away from memory foams - these begin to decay after 3 years and emit a 'gas'.

That's great advice thanks astern.

I don't have MCS, but I had the experience at the beginning of last year of staying in a unit affiliated with a hospital that I had to visit and the moment I walked into the bedroom I could smell this awful smell. I can still smell it just thinking about it. There were foam pillows on the beds. I had to remove them from the room because the smell was so disturbing.

I have a lot of bamboo and hemp fabric products. Tea tree mattresses were just coming in when my babies were born. They're made much better now. I like my organic cotton japanese shiki futon.

thanks again for info about the memory foam gas problem. I guess basically it's deteriorating rubber?? [I notice a lot of handles on appliances tend to start deteriorating too. They get sticky and yuk. Probably the same process of decay.]

Lara, I don't have any allergies but my pillow sounds like the one that astern has described (very comfortable).

Lara 01-17-2021 03:34 AM

That's good to know.

I like all the good attributes of bamboo but I know some of the bamboo ones have memory foam in them all chopped up and they're really heavy. I don't want those.

I have beautiful bamboo sheets and they're really cool (temperature-wise that is) so figure a bamboo pillow without the memory foam filling would be cool too. It's so hot and humid here almost all year around and I have a terrible time finding a comfortable pillow and I don't want to pay too much if I need to throw them out all the time.
