General anaesthesia safety reassurance
Hi all,
So after my rib resection in November I developed suprascapular nerve palsy, and it hasn't gotten better by much in the past 6 months. So I'm getting a nerve graft done in just under two weeks (with the nerve taken from near my ankle) plus a release of the scapular notch just in case the nerve is pinched there. I'm fine with the thought of the operation (I can think about it logically and analytically) - what really gets to me is thinking about the anaesthesia. I've had it before and it's always worked, but there's still some inherent anxiety about it. I guess I just need some reassurance...General Anaesthesia is really safe right? And I'm worrying for nothing right? Thanks :) |
You're going to be great. Do you have someone who will be there when you're in recovery? I hope so.
When I was a child, my mom always said, "I'll see you in the morning" when she tucked me in at night. It was always so reassuring that we would both be there in the morning. If I were with you, I'd say I'll see you in a few hours and, of course, I would. It's natural to worry. Health issues are inherently unnerving. But you will be fine. I'll cross my fingers for you. |
