New with Nerve block side effects

I'm new to the site, and I'm trying to find some info about nerve block side effects. I had knee surgery in mid March, for which I had a femeral nerve block, only problem is, not all of my leg "woke up". I have a section of my lower leg and across the top of my foot which are completely numb still today. I also have lost some function in my ankle and foot. Basically I can't turn my foot outward or pull my toes upward..."footdrop" as it's been explained to me. I have had 2 EMG tests, one at 3 weeks and one at 6 weeks post op. At 3 weeks the area showed zero electical response to the shock portion of the test. However at 6 weeks, it did show "some" response. Apparently it should show as a bell curve (normal), but mine wasn't normal, and wasn't as fast as the normal response for a person my age. On the other hand, it was an improvement over the initial test 3 weeks earlier, on which I have hung my hopes for nerve recovery. This week I'll be 12 weeks post op, and I haven't seen any imporvement that I can tell myself, and I'm wondering if anyone can add any insight to my ordeal. What can I do, or not do, that will help with recovery or at least give it it's best opportunity to come back. Thanks in advance.

Hi J. Sanders and welcome to NeuroTalk! :Wave-Hello:

Here's a link to the SCS & Pain Pumps forum......http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum118.html.

Hopefully someone there can relate to your experience and offer some suggestions. Please feel free to have a look at any of the other forums here, too.

:)
