$19! WOW! it looks like a nice trim one too.

For those who are wondering TENS stands for Trans electrical Nerve stimulation and it really helps those muscle spasms let go. Its a drug less, easy way to help with spastic stuff and I would be lost without mine.

I asked my BF if he wanted to try it and he said no. Seems I remember the use of this helped him during PT after his 5-level lower back fusion in 05. He still has a lot of pain.

I love that site. they have a new special everyday. I ordered their wireless keyboard today with a mouse pad on the side. I am a gamer and play laying down in bed. now I dont have to keep track of a mouse too, just one keyboard. Those things are pricey in the store, but here they are $20. They sell sheets, jewelry, and tons of other stuff each day.

Im happy for those that got the TENS unit, those are rare to find for that price.

READ the product description. Some things are refurbished, and some are new. never used. always certified as new. Go to Amazon, plug in the item name, and READ THE REVIEWS. those folks are pretty honest about how well they like or dislike the item. some times a bargain just isnt a bargain if its going to be a peice of junk.

I use TENS on my patients and thought I'd try it out myself whilst on a break...
Yuck! It was worse than the pain i had in the first place! Not for me...:D

TENS might help to relieve pain & spasm due to the effects that it has on the brain, nerves, muscles and neurotransmitters. As these are some of the things that are not working properly in MS due to demyelination, TENS may be beneficial.

In brief TENS causes:

1. Activation of opioid receptors may make the natural opioids, which are neurotransmitters that control pain in the brain more available and effective.

2. Reduction of excitation of nerves and excitory neurotransmitters which work to increase the strength and intensity of impulses to the target muscle groups may decrease spasm.

3. Increase of inhibitory neurotransmitters (GABA) in the brain and spinal cord may help to control spasms and reduce pain much like the medication Baclofen does.

4. Activation of inhibitory receptors may reduce pain by blocking the receptors that are activated by pain promoting neurotransmitters.

5. Increase of the release of serotonin and activation of serotonin receptors in the spinal cord may help to reduce pain.
