More help and advice needed re. pain
Firstly, HI ! Am still here, an ok.
I had my hysterectomy on 25th May and have already been out in both Tootles. Am in a lot of pain from my back and leg after they took my stim out due to infection in April (13th) We go on holiday for a week in July to Greece and I want to ask my Doctor at the Pain Clinic if there is anything else he can do for me just so that ONE week can be more easy forme. I am already on Morphine, Tramadol, Amytriptylinne, Valium, Tamazepam, Omeprazole and Prozac .... I was hoping for some sort of injection to numb the area??? |
Saffy,
I am currently on a Butran's patch, clonidine patch, neurontin, abilify and percocet for break thru. I like having the patch's no need to worry about taking a pill and it really has helped with the pain where I barely ever have to take breakthrough meds. I also have a rollabout (which is pictured on my info) so I do not have to use that leg. Don't know if this information helps you but I wanted to share in case you could use some of it. I will pray you find relief. |
Thank you ... I've tried the patches, both butrans and fentanyl but they were no good, but thanks for replying. My meds are ok I just wondered if there was any injection they can give to numb the area.

A lot of medication!
Hi Saffy
Glad to hear that you are over your op now and doing well AND able to go on holiday:eek:....well done! You are on a lot of meds as it is. Do you find any side effects from this amount of medication? Do you get much relief from all the meds? I know I have Tramadol, Amitrypteline, Lidoderm patches, Baclofen and Neurofen and also the SCS and with that combination I function as much as I can. BUT......and I do say a big BUT!!!! I do have side effects from them. I do have a prescription for Valium but decided not to take it as Im dopey enough as it is with all the other meds :D......... I did have injections over the years but never did find them of any use. Im wondering if you dont get the relief you need from that amount of medication would injections even help, let alone 'numb' the area you need. Maybe just getting to your holiday resort and taking in the warmth and sunshine, anything better that this dismal weather we are having, might just be the medication you need.....just a thought! Thanks for the update. I would think you have added pain from the surgery. Your body is still healing and the position/table for the surgery only adds to the after pain as well. Once all that calms down; hopefully you will be in much less pain and better able to enjoy your holiday in Greece. Have you tried Lidoderm patches (Lidocaine)? These patches can be used whole or cut into a few pieces and placed where pain is at it worst. ( Can be used in a different area; but only 12 hours on and 12 hours of in the same area.) Gerry |
That's a good idea. I've managed to get an appointment with my doctor on 2nd July .. We fly on the 3rd. Am sure she will prescribe some.

The Pain Specialist even suggested the plastic covering the sticky part can be put back on and can get an extra use from the patch. He said because the 12 hours are up to remove patch from a specific area (so skin will not get irritated) , there is still medication left in the patch. I have not tried reusing them myself. Hope these work for you; worth a try. Gerry |
