Hashimotos Encephalopathy

Has anyone else here been diagnosed with this disease? It is very scary. It is frequently underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. I have stroke like symptoms along with a host of other symptoms. My Neurologist first said that it was a mental issue, and told me that I needed to see a Psychiatrist. I took memory tests and failed miserably. It has been a very stressful time. I would really like to know if anyone else has gone through this.

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

We do have some posters on this topic at our Autoimmune forum:

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum44.html

If you type in "hashimoto's" into the search some older threads will be listed too.

I have just been diagnosed with H.E. After four years of seeing 6 Neurologist's and many many tests. I have been diagnosed with everything from a stroke to a brain tumor to a psychiatric disorder until finally H.E. It is so scary and frustrating not to mention the loss of career, income and sanity!

I have just been pit on mega doses of prednisone for 7 days with more testing in three months. I am hopeful that I will feel better and am trying to keep positive!
Hang in there
