cronic neck tension

I swear I have bottles of ben-gay laying all over my house because my neck is always tight and painful. Its the only thing that takes the edge off. I often find myself saying to people when they hug me..." hope you like the smell of Canada mints!" Seriously though I should have part ownership in the company!
I know some is from teeth clenching...do any of you have the same problem? What do you do for it?

Is that the area of your RSD?

Our thoracic outlet syndrome forum has lots of ideas for neck, shoulder & upper back pain, especially the Useful sticky thread.

Do you have a forward head posture and/or hunched or rolled forward shoulders? The weight of our head being carried forward of the body really can stress those neck muscles.

You could even have muscle spasms or trigger points and good massage therapist or PT person could evaluate for those.
Even a friend or family member could help to check for them if they read a bit about both of those. Youtube videos are helpful also.

Teeth clenching and CRPS are common. It is the old pain, stress ,more pain+clenched teeth. Mine was so bad that I cracked a tooth. Nothing helped much. I wore a night guard much of the day and night to prevent more cracked teeth which would lead to extractions (since I had a root canal prior to being diagnosed which caused a spread to my jaw so I am done with them).

Within weeks of tDCS the teeth clenching reduced. Now it is almost gone. I have not worn the mouth guard in seven months!

Try to get a handle on the clenching thing to prevent dental issues and migraines.

Hope this helps!

I use gum for the clenching.. and it helps deal with the temporary heightened pain I get with walking and PT.as far as neck pain.. well with the use of cane and walker I only irritate my herniated discs, carpal tunnel nerve impingement . I use Icey hot.. its in living room and bed room.. it seems to help my colds better then the pain until it really kicks in...

My's rsd site is my rt. Ankle and foot... but I agree that teeth clenching is probably a big part of it. My pm said something before about trigger point injections. Maybe its time to Consider them. Oy its always something.
