please help me problem concussion
 

I was involved in an accident that resulted with a concussion, bruised vertebrae, neck pain and pulmonary contusion. I have had two prior concussions. I experience balance problems, times of dizziness, nausea, vomiting, massive headaches, ringing in my ears, sadness, memory problems, processing problems, sometimes my vision is blurred and fatigue. But these do not happen every day. These symptoms are increased after activity. My pain medications have been decreased. My doctor believes that these are caused by my pain medications but the symptoms are still there even after the decrease. I have tried to do some research on the internet and found post concussion syndrome, but my doctor disagrees. My physical therapist reports that she has spoken with my doctor and I will finally get to see a neurologist. I am expected to try to go back to work on Monday. oh yes this is a workman comp issue. But i am concerned that I will get into another accident as I am dizzy while I am a passenger in the car let alone trying to drive. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. to add I just practiced driving and my husband says it is like driving drunk. I wish that I was so I had that happy feeling and that I was invincible. Tomorrow ought to be fun

Welcome to NeuroTalk. I am sorry to hear of another head injury involving WC.

First, if you feel unsafe driving, Don't drive. You could make things much worse. If your husband can not drive you to work, stay home and call work and tell them that you are not ready to drive yourself to work.

If you can't convince your employer that you are not ready to be back at work, let your symptoms show and politely bow out when it gets too tough.

Is your doctor a WC doc? WC docs often try to minimize concussion issues. Either way, he does not understand concussions. Your body may be healing but your brain can take quite a bit longer. It is not uncommon for a concussion to take 6 weeks to recover.

In the mean time, stay away from alcohol and caffeine. You also need quiet rest.

Where are you a transplant to? I hope it is not California. WC is miserable in CA.
