How to report a handicap parking violator

Have you ever driven to your local store and been so tired you just have enough energy to make it in and out, only to find there are no handicap spots open? Are there 3 cars there with NO HC placard? Make ya wanna scream? Grab your cell phone with a camera, take a photo of the back or the car, the front (so you can see the windshield) and the whole car in a clearly displayed HC spot and zip it off to

http://parkingmobility.com

They will mail the photos to your local PD and when they collect the fine for the violation they send 10% of what the ticket costs to the charity of your choice.

Its an APP for your Droid or your IPHONE and is easy sent. They also have a community website so you can go talk about what you saw, ask questions, or check on the stories of others.

PLEASE dont use it to take photos and report a car with a proper tag, even if you feel that person is not the owner of the tag. As long as the tag is displayed there isnt anything the PD can do unless they show up right then and ask the person to prove its their permit. As many of you know we have days when we look great going into the store, but awful coming out. Sometimes we pull up to get a spouse, a child, or a parent. You never know what that person is up to, but this is a neat way to report the violation of those with NO tags displayed.

I hope nobody reports me when I'm on my fourth errand, tired, and just want to get home--and forget to hang my tag on the mirror.

if YOU get a ticket and YOU are the one with the HC placard, take the ticket, and the placard to the PD that wrote the ticket. Tell them you were exhausted and forgot to display it. 99% of the time they forgive the ticket. its still a pain to have to go take care of, but at least you dont end up paying for a simple mistake.

In my state, we have a serious problem with people parking 2 cars in one HC parking spot. One car will be parked legally, and the second car will be parked on the yellow lines of the van accessible spots.

I'm constantly finding motorcycles in the wheelchair access spots that are next to the handicap spots. That aint motorcycle parking!

there are never enuf handicapped spots for parking.
the other day i was so tired under the circumstances you described.
all i had to do was p/u my dry cleaning as i had already paid for it.
so i parked illegally and put my flashers on.

whew i got away and there were police eating at a restaurant nearby.

I saw this last summer at a breakfast restaurant my parents and I like to go to. Not exactly someone parking in the spot, but it was people working on the cement sidewalks in front of the restaurant. People were still parking in front of the restaurant, but the workers kept parking their tools right in the handicap spots. The cement they were working on was two storefronts down to the left. They didnt need to use all that space to park their tools.

Then there's this one...at Costco. I saw the owner of the SUV and his family come out of Costco on my way into the store. His wife was in a chair. They were pretty ticked off at the motorcyclist. The seat in the car where the wife sat was the backseat on the driver's side. Bike was too close for her to get into the backseat (she seemed to able to walk, but just barely) I went inside and kvetched (complained) to the greeters, and they got on their walkie talkies and found the EMPLOYEE that parked his bike there.

I have some others, that I cant find at the moment, that I saw at the gym, where the motorcycle riders keep parking their bikes in the wheelchair access spots (and yes, I've seen people in wheelchairs at the gym. Couple of weight lifters)

I take pictures of the people doing stupid parking in the handicap spots and usually tweet the pictures. (kinda try to not get their plates in the pictures if I can help it most of the time)

if you are in a chair, you CANT get back in your car if someone is sharing your spot, nor can you raise, or lower your ramp. there is reason for those hash marks. folks dont seem to care.

I would report that as well.

My favorite thing is when it snows a lot here and they plow all the snow into the handicapped spots!

I know, guess they figure that most handicapped stay home when it snows. They don't know us very well..:D
