Hen and Chicken Fern question
Among my potted plants I have a fern named Asplenium bulbiferum, better known as the Hen & Chicken Fern, and I'd like to get another fern started from one of the little chicks that are visible on the fronds. I've tried this before but so far my attempts have been unsuccessful.
What I did before was the remove the tip of the frond with chick attached and plant it out, but the chick always died off. I decided that I must have taken the baby fern too early, so I have left one on the plant that now has 2 little fronds at least 2 inches long. Do I pick it off the frond, cut the end of the frond off with chick attached or do I wait until the chick falls off? Is there any special care the new plant would need that the adult doesn't because my adult plant has 30 or 40 chicks at the moment, and looks super healthy? Thank you. |
Maybe this will help.

Thank you very much Kitt. It tells me to do what I've tried in the past, so I guess I just need to persevere
Thank you for taking the time to find that link for me. |
