pre-diabetes

Just wondering if anyone that has idopathic snf has been diagnosed with pre-diabetes? If so have you found that the metformin helped the burning in your feet /legs? I'm on the low side of the pre and I truly think that the elevated glucose level was just enough to make my feet/legs burn. The burn is not completly gone but it is much more bareable , not near as bad at night and i can sit for longer times with out burning . I"m also taking supplements but the metformin was after I'd been on supplements which i saw an improvement but the metformin seems to really have made a huge difference .

If you plug in "pre-diabetes" into the search function you will
find 84 discussions as of today about this.

It is very common.

I'm so glad you are better! :)I know I have perfect glucose and eating like a diabetic has been amazing along with my supplements!

As far as the pre D is concerned, either you have it, or you don't. It's like being a little bit PREGNANT. If you start watching your carbs as if you have it, you will be much better off.

I've posted a number of times--

--complete with lists of references, about the growing evidence that pre-diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance can be a cause of neuropathy, particularly painful, small-fiber kinds. (I'm rushing a bit today, but just pull up my posts by name and they're easy to find.)

A lot of doctors still don't believe one can get neuropathy unless one has long-standing diabetes, though.

It's also possible for impaired glucose tolerance to exacerbate already standing neuro problems, as in the "double-crush" hypothesis (something else I've written about and can be searched for here). It's something I know I have to watch closely for with my recent 5.7 hemoglobin A1c reading.

Yes mine was 5.8 so I'm working hard to get it back where it has been for years
