Why So Mean Medical Industry?

Why is the medical industry so mean?

I called another doctor to get another opinion and the website says he does thoracic outlet syndrome management and surgery. Sounds cool, no?

1. YOU NEED A REFERRAL!!!!!

Don't be so mean, my insurance does not require a referral. Plus, my primary doctor has no idea what is wrong with me so they couldn't possibly have even found you guys to refer me to.

2. YOU NEED MEDICAL RECORDS SEND TO US!

ok ok, calm down, they are actually already in YOUR system as the other doctor was part of your hospital company, just different location.

or.... okay, give me your fax number, or when may i drop them by?
why be so mean to me?

3. WHAT ARE YOU SEEING HIM FOR!!!

thoracic outlet syndrome

4. HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT IS WHAT YOU HAVE!!!!!!

ummm, three other doctors said so and if you don't believe them, well, isn't the point of seeing a doctor for him to tell me what i have? can i please see him.

GESSH!

they are so cranky to me!

Just sounds like you got a cranky receptionist. Don't let that person get you down.

Dear Heybro

Just a quick reply. There are those who are cranky. No doubt about it. Someday they will be patients too, and needing the help of a doctor. Maybe they will be in pain. That is the time they will learn that kindness means so much when you are hurting. Perhaps that is when they will change. ginnie:hug:

not so much they are cranky as it is that TOS is such an undefined path.

if i had a heart problem, my general doctor would refer me to cardio.

they are used to that chain of command actually working.

TOS, there is no chain.
